Fido on vacation: tips to avoid stress

FIDO-IN-VIAGGIO--salute-e-coccole

Leave for vacation might be stressing for our Fido if we are not adequately prepared. Our four-legged friend will be a real traveler, which is why we should always keep in mind his particular needs and requirements.

First of all, before departure we have to ensure our dog’s health is fine, in order to prevent that underestimated small symptoms suddenly become important issues while we are traveling.

It is also crucial to get some antiparasitic drugs for your dog, for both internal and external parasites, and to be prepared with a “special kit” for any needs.

If your dog is small, you may want to crate train him. Traveling by car, train or ferry will be much easier.

Once you get to your destination, it is important that you find a way to help him feeling safe within the new environment. Bring with you his favorite blanket, or mat, in order to make him feeling at home even on vacation.

If you plan to have breakfast, lunch or dinner outside, remember to take with you a bowl, some versions are detachable and very easy to bring along. If your dog needs a special diet because of allergies, treatments or whatever reasons, be responsible and either bring with you enough quantity of food or ask the hotel if they can provide your dog with it.
